1. The person providing the service.
The review service is provided personally by Chenice Pope. Cern Aliud is the coined expression used to describe the principle behind the service. It is not a separate organisation employing the reviewer.
These terms explain the standard service arrangements. Your Client Brief and signed agreement record the specific package, material, focus, fee, dates and any variation expressly agreed for your booking. Resolve any inconsistency or uncertainty with Chenice before payment. An enquiry alone does not create a booking.
2. What an independent review includes.
An independent review examines the agreed material and provides observations, questions and priorities within the selected scope. It is a considered perspective on the submitted work, not a commitment to agree with its author, find a particular number of faults or reach a preferred conclusion.
Written Review includes examination and the stated written findings, without a meeting. Review Discussion includes advance examination and one discussion, without written feedback, notes, a summary or a recording. Critical Review and Discussion includes advance examination, one discussion and the written findings specified by the chosen tier.
The published word counts, slide counts, meeting lengths and output limits define the standard offers. Page ranges are guides rather than quotas. The amount of writing is shaped by the findings and agreed scope. All standard prices are stated in Trinidad and Tobago dollars.
3. Suitability and the submitted version.
Suitability is confirmed before payment. Material is not accepted automatically because it falls within a word or slide count. Complexity, technical density, legibility, number of files, appendices, speaker notes, intended use and deadline may change the appropriate scope or make another specialist more suitable.
Identify all material you want examined, including supporting files. The review applies to the version and scope agreed in your Client Brief. A later addition, replacement document or revised version requires agreement before it becomes part of the work. It may change the fee or timing.
Provide the background and permissions needed to review the work. Do not submit confidential, restricted or personal information that you are not authorised to share. Remove information that is unnecessary to the purpose of the review.
4. The Client Brief and booking confirmation.
After initial suitability and booking interest have been discussed, Chenice provides the Client Brief relevant to your package, an agreement to sign and the private payment instructions. The Client Brief is supplied to you. It is not an open submission form or a document you must create before enquiring.
The brief records the material, its purpose and audience, the questions to be examined, the agreed deliverables, price and relevant dates. It also sets out the applicable cancellation arrangements and identifies any amount that will not be refundable.
The standard allowance is one week to return the completed Client Brief and signed agreement and make the required payment, unless another arrangement has been discussed. Submit the agreed material through the confirmed channel. Work begins after the requirements are complete and the booking has been confirmed.
If you cannot meet a submission or payment deadline, contact Chenice before assuming that the original review or session date remains available.
5. Fees and payment.
Online bank transfer is the standard payment method. Banking details are provided privately with the Client Brief after the proposed booking has been discussed. Other methods may be agreed individually. No bank account details or payment collection form are published on this website.
Written Review and Review Discussion are paid in full in advance. The Written Review fees are TT$50 for Brief, TT$100 for Focused and TT$150 for Extended. Review Discussion is TT$75.
Full reviews use two payments of 50% each. Essential is TT$250, with TT$125 to confirm and TT$125 before the session. Plus is TT$450, with TT$225 at each stage. In Depth is TT$750, with TT$375 at each stage.
The initial 50% for a full review is not refundable after the booking is confirmed if the client cancels. The remaining 50% must be paid before the review session. Any additional service, change of scope or urgent arrangement must be quoted and agreed before it is added. The guide prices for additional services are not an automatic charge.
6. Turnaround and delivery dates.
A Written Review normally takes about one week after the complete Client Brief, agreed material and required payment have been received and the booking is confirmed. The selected package and the complexity of the material may change the time required. The actual delivery date is agreed before payment.
A full review session is normally arranged a little over one week after the requirements are complete, usually within two weeks. A request that requires a different timetable must be discussed before booking. The session date is distinct from the date on which the written feedback will be delivered after the discussion. Both are agreed in advance.
For Review Discussion, the material deadline, preparation period and meeting date are agreed individually before payment. There is no automatic same day or urgent service.
A changed scope, late submission or missing context may require a revised date. Urgent requests are accepted only by written agreement and may carry an additional fee that is confirmed beforehand.
7. Cancellation and payments already made.
If you cancel a full review after confirmation, the initial 50% remains not refundable. If you cancel before the session and the remaining balance has not been paid, that unpaid balance is not owed. The cancellation treatment of any amount already paid above the booking payment is stated in the Client Brief before payment.
Written Review and Review Discussion require full advance payment rather than a 50% booking payment. Their cancellation arrangements and any amount that will not be refundable are specified in the relevant Client Brief before you pay. Advance payment alone should not be interpreted as a promise that the whole payment will be refunded or retained.
Notify Chenice directly as soon as you decide to cancel. Do not assume that failing to submit material or failing to attend has notified the cancellation or settled its consequences. Any arrangement for additional services is considered under the scope and cancellation terms agreed for those services.
8. Rescheduling, late arrival and missed sessions.
Rescheduling is allowed and can be discussed. Give notice as soon as possible so that the effect on preparation, delivery and availability can be considered. A replacement date must be agreed with Chenice. No unlimited rescheduling entitlement or fixed automatic penalty is advertised.
A late arrival does not extend the booked end time. If you cannot attend, have connection problems or realise that your material will be late, contact Chenice promptly. A missed session does not automatically create an additional session or extend the scope of the service. The appropriate next arrangement is discussed directly.
The usual meeting method is Zoom, by voice or video as agreed. Any different platform must be confirmed in advance. Review Discussion does not include a recording. Other sessions are not recorded unless both parties expressly agree in writing beforehand.
9. If Chenice cannot provide the service.
If an issue on Chenice's side prevents her from providing the agreed service, she will inform you and provide a full refund of the amount paid for that service. This is separate from the rule applying when a client cancels a confirmed booking.
The obligation is to deliver the agreed service and scope. Dissatisfaction with an honestly delivered independent opinion, without a failure to provide that service, does not itself establish that the work was undelivered. A particular opinion, decision or external outcome is not promised.
10. Additional services and further work.
Proofreading, grammar correction and rewriting are not included in the review prices. They may be requested separately where suitable. The website provides indicative additional fees for ordinary prose, but the actual text, complexity, service, price and date must be confirmed in writing.
Proofreading addresses spelling, typographical mistakes and punctuation in settled text. Grammar and expression includes sentence correction while retaining the underlying content and structure. Rewriting allows more extensive work on wording and organisation using information and ideas supplied by the client. It does not include original research or inventing evidence.
The pricing columns describe alternative levels, not amounts automatically added together. The agreement specifies the delivery format, number of passes and whether any further revisions are included. Slide material, technical content, several files and a partial rewrite require an appropriate quotation.
An additional service does not silently expand the review package. A second examination, a revised submission, further meetings and continuing support require a separate agreement. A short clarification after a Written Review may be offered at Chenice's discretion, but it is not an entitlement to further review work.
11. Boundaries, academic work and outcomes.
The review is not independent fact checking, specialist technical certification or legal, financial, medical, investment, psychological or other regulated professional advice. It does not independently authenticate research, data, references, ownership or compliance.
Student work may be reviewed for feedback only where the relevant academic integrity requirements permit that assistance. Explain that work is assessed and disclose restrictions before booking. Assessed work is not written or rewritten for a student, sources are not fabricated and prohibited answers are not supplied.
You remain responsible for your decisions, accuracy, compliance and the final use of the work. No service guarantees approval, funding, publication, grades, sales, commercial success or acceptance by another person or institution.
12. Confidentiality, ownership and completion.
You retain ownership of the material you submit. Chenice retains ownership of her review wording, templates and methods. You may use the delivered feedback to develop and inform your own work. Receiving the feedback does not transfer ownership of the underlying review method or create a right to sell it as your own service.
Submitted material and discussion content are treated as confidential. Chenice personally undertakes the review and does not submit client material to AI tools. The privacy policy explains the communication providers involved, the limits of deletion and how confidentiality is handled.
A Written Review is completed when the agreed written findings have been delivered. Review Discussion is completed when the agreed discussion has taken place. A full review is completed after the agreed discussion and written feedback have been provided. Any separately agreed additional work is included in the completion arrangements for that booking.
The signed agreement is retained as the contractual record of the service and the agreed payment terms. The Client Brief, submitted material and review records held by Chenice are deleted once the agreed service is completed. Keep your own copy of anything delivered to you. The service does not include maintaining a client archive or retrieving feedback after deletion.
13. Questions about these terms.
Discuss any concern about scope, payment, timing, cancellation or confidentiality before paying. Any individual variation must be confirmed in writing rather than assumed.
